adidas today unveiled new uniforms for nine of its college basketball teams to wear during the 2016 NCAA basketball postseason. The 2016 Made in March uniform collection features design elements that honor each team’s unique identity and school history.
Teams suiting up in the collection include Arizona State University, Indiana University, University of Kansas, University of Miami, Mississippi State University NC State University, University of Nebraska, Texas A&M, University of and UCLA.
The 2016 Made in March collection is constructed with dual-color contrasts along the jersey collar and short hem and features terrycloth team logos on the short for sweat management during the game’s biggest moments. The design of each short’s waistband pays tribute to the school’s fans, rich tradition and team pride.
Allen Fieldhouse is known as one of the noisiest arenas in the game, claiming ESPN’s top prize in 2010 for the loudest student section and later being named the most intimidating arena in 2013 by NCAA.com. To honor the Rock Chalk faithful, the 2016 Made in March uniforms incorporate a soundwave pattern along the waistband as a nod to Allen Fieldhouse’s unparalleled home-court advantage. The uniforms are designed in Kansas’ classic blue, white and crimson tones with a terrycloth “Jayhawk” logo for sweat management.
Miami’s Made in March uniforms incorporate hurricane style cuts and patterns along the waistband and a bold, dual-color pop along the jersey collar, arm holes and short hem. The white “U” logo featured on the short is done up in terrycloth for sweat management during the game’s biggest moments.
adidas today unveils two college basketball uniforms for University of Louisville and University of Nebraska to wear during Black History Month. Each uniform in the Black History Month Collection pays homage to the courageous individuals that paved the way for change on campus with individually crafted uniforms.
Paying homage to Louisville’s uniforms of the 1980s, the Cardinals’ Black History Month uniform commemorates one of the program’s first three African-American basketball players, Wade Houston. The Tennessee native embraced the opportunity to break the color barrier on court from 1963–66 and returned to Louisville as an assistant coach in 1976.
Louisville will suit up in all-black and all-cream versions of the uniforms. The jerseys feature throwback name and numbering used during the Cardinals’ dominant runs in the ’80s. The 2016 rendition is comprised of red and black accents with the shorts showcasing the Louisville “Dunking Bird” as a nod to the program’s 1980 and 1986 NCAA championships.
The Huskers’ Black History Month uniforms pay tribute to Wilbur Wood, the program’s first African-American basketball player. Wood lettered from 1908–10 and was one of the first black players to gain prominence in collegiate hoops.
Designed to celebrate Nebraska’s early years, the uniforms feature red tones and a cream stripe across the jersey with the classic N logo on display. While the uniforms of old did not incorporate numbers, the 2016 collection features classic block numbering with cream accents below the stripe and on the back of the jersey.
