Love it or hate it… you know what time it is. adidas took on the challenge of creating zero distractions with the Dame 4, elevating the importance of all day comfort without losing sight of on-court durability and Damian Lillard’s Oakland grit.
The model is seamlessly designed to eliminate on-court distractions while ensuring sock-like comfort and fastened stability as Dame attacks the opposition. A ventilated mesh upper delivers a new flow on-court, paired with lace cables for a reinforced fit that maximizes breathability.
Full-length BOUNCE cushioning is optimized for ultimate court feel and superior comfort for the everyday hustle. Designed with unique grooves for creating space against defenders, an evolved traction pattern is reworked as a nod to Dame’s quick cuts and hard drives to the basket.
Detailing his life’s journey in the game and capturing his most influential moments on the court, signature time stamps are etched across the lace-band:
Full-length BOUNCE cushioning converges with the outsole, visually treated as a musical waveform that represents Dame D.O.L.L.A.’s passion for hip-hop. YKWTII is displayed on the heel as a message to all the doubters, reminding them “You Know What Time It Is.” DAME CERTIFIED is featured on the sockliner with the motto “Patience Persistence Purpose” to further exude Dame’s unrelenting attitude.
From start to finish, Dame delivered on the court and in the classroom. He was named Big Sky MVP and earned All-American honors in his final year at Weber State but following his third season in the NBA, Dame went back to school and accomplished the one goal his mother set out for him — graduating with a degree.
“My proudest moment is when he graduated college. I wouldn’t allow Damian to go to the NBA early until he finished school,” explained his mother Gina. “When they talked me into letting him go months before he was done with school, all I could tell him was ‘You need to make sure you finish. I’m not playing.’ I didn’t even know he was going to back to school and when he told me he graduated, I was so happy because that was the main goal in everything I did for [my kids].”
Start to Finish features a textured gray upper, clean white outsole and purple accents inspired by Weber State. “25.6.4” is punched out in purple along the lace-band to commemorate the moment in time during his final year that Dame garnered national attention and the eyes of NBA scouts.
Damian Lillard is no stranger to basketball’s biggest moments. Through the first 10 games of the 2017-18 season, he leads the league in clutch scoring with 42 points on 58-percent from the field and 33-percent from three. Celebrating his ability to come through when his team and city need him most, adidas introduces the all-black edition of Dame Time.
Red stripes are displayed on the outsole, while “0.9” is flashed in red on the lace band to commemorate the time remaining on the clock when Dame drained a game-winning three to upset the Houston Rockets in Game 6 on May 3, 2014.
“I just couldn’t believe that a moment like that happened to me. As a kid you walk away from the court like, ‘5, 4, 3, 2, 1…’ and on that stage to make that shot it was just crazy,” Dame explained on Viceland’s Duses & Mero. “I remember when I made the shot and I turned around, in my mind I really felt like it was going in all along. But when I turned around and I couldn’t hear my teammates, I had a two or three second moment where I was like, ‘I can’t believe it went in. That really happened.’”
